The Emporium of Positivity
A practical and sensible approach to positive thinking.
Declutter your thoughts. Build confidence. Boost your motivation. Learn the art of goal crafting.
Let's break through what is holding you back.
What's Personal Coaching?
Need some thinking space?
- to find time to focus on your goals?
- to find motivation?
- to take the first step in looking for a new role?
- to declutter all the stuff that's in your head and make sense of it?
If you're nodding while you're reading any of this, then personal coaching with me at the Emporium of Positivity is for you.
My job is not to tell you what to do. I challenge and motivate you to find the answers within yourself. I help you to unlock the door and show you what you can achieve. I've got your back the whole time to give you the motivation and positivity to keep going.
We explore your current situation and what you want to change. That becomes your VISION.
I provide you with INSPIRATION –the tools and techniques to help you realise your vision. This might be about unlearning bad habits before you learn some new ones!
By challenging you (and holding you to account when you commit to an action), we create FOCUS. This results in positive change that sticks.
Meet me - Jo Small
From prisons to potting sheds, from Croydon to Croatia, from meeting rooms to muddy fields, I’ve been coaching all over the place (and world!) for the past 17 years. I’ve worked with international banks, construction companies, manufacturers, marketing teams, senior leadership teams, and CEOs delivering both one to one and team coaching.
I started coaching in 2004 when I became the National Manager for Languages and Adult Learning as part of the government funded National Teaching and Learning Programme. I was instrumental in developing coaching networks across the UK for teachers and managers.
With my other company, Optima Training (UK) Ltd, I work with companies to develop management coaching skills so that coaching becomes part of the workplace. I am also proud to have been a tutor and writer on the Education and Training Foundation’s Mentoring Programme where I supported Further Education Managers in the development of their coaching and mentoring skills.
Personal coaching is such a privilege. I love building trust and creating a secure space for my clients to explore their opportunities and goals. Getting up close with a "lightbulb moment", when a something just clicks, is an amazing feeling.
Adaptive, empathetic and challenging. My approach is honest and direct. I will challenge and motivate you every step of the way.

How does coaching work?
Choose coaching that works for you
Choose your space. Remote coaching on Zoom means you can choose where you want to be! You just need to find a space you're comfortable in if I'm going to challenge you!
Choose your view. Gain some perspective, in more ways than one, by taking stock while you walk in the rolling Warwickshire countryside. Let the views inspire you. Changing patterns and behaviours is easier when you change your environment.
Choose your time. The flexibility of remote coaching at times to suit you and fit in around your working day. Twilight talking and early bird slots are great times for reflection.
Let's get started

Confidentiality and privacy: the foundations of coaching
What we talk about is confidential ... it's as simple as that.
When we get started I'll take you through a coaching contract which covers: the role of the coach; confidentiality; and record keeping.
